Ten years after Labour came to power, Britain is facing the worst round of NHS cuts since the last Conservative Government. Services are under threat across Britain including many hospitals, A&E and maternity services-with Wiltshire hit especially hard.

Cuts are also being made to training budgets for key medical staff, undermining the future of the NHS.

"Gordon Brown can't run from his responsibility for Wiltshire's hospital closures. The financial crisis in the NHS is particularly severe in this part of the country," said Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Chippenham, Duncan Hames.

The Liberal Democrats want an immediate halt to the current round of NHS cuts. They are campaigning to cut waste in the NHS so more money can be spent on front-line services. Duncan Hames and the local Lib Dem team are collecting names on a petition which is arriving through thousands of letterboxes right now. Please sign and return your copy, or alternatively, phone our office on 01249 652 602, who will be happy to send you a copy.

"Local NHS managers' hands are tied by the burden of past local NHS deficits. It's time Gordon Brown started a programme of debt relief for our cash strapped NHS," added Duncan.
