Access All Areas - Young People to visit West Wiltshire District Council10.19.18pm UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 13th Oct 2006 Lib Dem councillors in West Wiltshire are opening up the district council for Local Democracy Week next week. The 'Take Part, Take Power' event will see council leader, Cllr Sarah Content, chairman Cllr Paul Batchelor, youth champion Cllr Andrew Bryant, and cabinet members Cllr Tom James and Cllr Trevor Carbin joined by Lib Dem county councillor Malcolm Hewson answering questions from young people visiting from Wiltshire College and local secondary schools. The young guests will participate in workshops on getting involved, decision-making, campaigning, and lobbying. "The aim of the roadshow is to give young people an insight into how decisions that affect their lives are made. It will also help to provide them with the skills and confidence they need to take part in the decision-making process. I am very much looking forward to the discussion with them, as our young people often feel left out and unable to access the democratic processes. Young people are our future electorate and have as much right of participation as anyone else." explained Cllr Sarah Content, Leader of West Wiltshire District Council.
